John Zumbrunnen
Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning, UW–Madison
John Zumbrunnen is the vice provost for teaching and learning at UW–Madison. In this role, he collaborates with deans and other academic leaders across campus, providing leadership, coordination, and administrative support for UW–Madison’s teaching and learning mission. As a professor of political science, Zumbrunnen studies the history of political thought, democratic theory, and American political thought. He is a past recipient of the Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award, the Phi Beta Kappa Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Alliant Energy Underkofler Excellence in Teaching Award. He leads a short-term summer study abroad program in Dublin and Belfast (“UW Rebels and Revolutions in Ireland”) and co-leads a study away program in Puerto Rico (“Ecological Restoration as Civic Engagement”).
