John D. Wiley

UW–Madison Chancellor, 2001-2008

John D. Wiley was chancellor of UW–Madison from 2001 to 2008. Throughout his decades-long career at the UW, he served as a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, chaired the materials science program, was dean of the Graduate School, and served as provost for six years. Wiley earned a BS at Indiana University and an MS and PhD in physics from UW–Madison.
