Ndemazea Fonkem
Chair, Associated Students of Madison
Ndemazea Fonkem ’24 serves as chair of the Associated Students of Madison, the university’s student government. A graduate of Wisconsin’s Appleton North High School, Fonkem came to UW–Madison with support from Bucky’s Tuition Promise. On campus, she is majoring in urban planning, and she has been involved with the Wisconsin Union Council, the Black Student Union, and the African Students Association, as well as with PAVE (Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment), a student organization that is dedicated to preventing sexual assault. Fonkem served on the search committee that brought Chancellor Mnookin to campus.
